The basal two-thirds of the tegmen is yellow to yellow-orange, while the apical third is very pale. Teneral individuals are ivory-colored.
Substantial host plant data isn't available for Typhlocyba saffrana, but the species has been collected on Hop Hornbeam and American Beech.
