Family: Cicadellidae
Subfamily: Deltocephalinae
Subgenus: Iowanus
Length: typically 8.0-10.2 mm
In the genus Texananus, the head is narrower than the pronotum. The pronotum has worm-like markings on it. A number of other key traits have to do with internal (genitalic) characters.
Texananus majestus has been reported from Ohio, Delaware, Illinois, Iowa, and Minnesota. There are no published records of the species from West Virginia, but we have photographed it in Upshur County in August and September of 2006, 2007, and 2008.
