The Latin of the generic name translates as "flat forehead," while the specific epithet means "the color of egg yolks."
Some published sources give the name as Fitchana vitellinus.
The photographs on this page were made in late August on the surface of a bathroom sink, onto which the hopper had somehow made its way. We have also photographed this species in West Virginia in July.
