Grapes both wild and cultivated are the food plants of Erythroneura vitis, the Grapevine Leafhopper. It is occasionally found feeding on Virginia Creeper or Redbud as well.
Although the markings vary, many individuals have the red-bordered white spots forming a large ring on the leafhopper's back.
This species is widespread in America north of Mexico, found in southern Canada and across the United States east of the Mississippi. It has also been found in scattered localities in the West, for example in Arizona, Texas, and South Dakota.
