Balclutha impicta is a pale green leafhopper that sometimes has markings on the wings, and sometimes doesn't. Sometimes there are reddish to brown markings on the vertex and the front of the pronotum.
Two traits to watch for are the very short head, and the head being considerably narrower than the widest part of the pronotum.
In this species, females are a little larger than the males.
