Length: typically about 8-10 mm
This species may be found from Illinois and Michigan to Maine, and south to North Carolina. While we have not yet photographed it in West Virginia, nor run across any state records, we are including Eristalinus aeneus on the Insects of West Virginia web site since West Virginia seems to fall within its range.
