Rhinoncus weevils are associated with plants in the genus Polygonum such as Knotweed and Tear-thumb, and other relatives.

In this genus the beaks are short but robust, and are wider toward the apex. The eyes are prominent. The antennae have seven segments between the scape and the club. Unlike some related genera, Rhinoncus lack spines on the femora.
