Family: Tenebrionidae
Subfamily: Tenebrioninae
Length: 11-14 mm
This species is unusual in shape for a Darkling Beetle, oval and quite convex. The color is bronze and the pronotum is coarsely punctate. The Meracantha Darkling Beetle is flightless, wingless in fact, and is typically found under the loose bark of a log or dead tree, or walking on a tree trunk.
W.S. Blatchley (1910) reported the species may be collected by beating dead tree branches.
