The shape of the white markings on the pronotum are unique to this species.
This active beetle may be seen in devouring aphids in West Virginia from May to October. Though the Multicolored Asian Lady Beetle is now the most commonly seen Ladybird in the Mountain State, the Red Lady Beetle is regularly encountered too.
