Length: 4-6 mm

 

This species is more elongate than are most Ladybird beetles. It is also unusual for its overall color, which is somewhat variable but not the orange typically found on ladybirds. In West Virginia this background color ranges from pink to salmon.

The Spotted Lady Beetle is a widespread species with several described subspecies. The subspecies found in West Virginia is Coleomegilla maculate legni, notable for the large triangular spots on the pronotum.
