This species was formerly included in the genus Ancistronycha. A 2005 article in Coleopterists Bulletin erected a new genus, Atalantycha, and placed into it these species, all found in West Virginia:
- Atalantycha bilineata
- Atalantycha dentiger
- Atalantycha neglecta
