Stenocorus schaumii is a variable species. The head and pronotum may be black (as shown) or reddish brown. Legs vary from light brown in some individuals to all-dark. The elytra have a fine, wrinkled appearance. As with other members of this genus, the shoulders are wide and the sides of the pronotum tuberculate.
Larvae of Stenocorus schaumii feed in ash, maple, and other hardwoods. Adults fly from May through August, and are attracted to lights.
